Are There Any Campgrounds in Las Vegas ?
November 3rd, 2009 Posted in CampingThere are 3 words that I didn’t think I might ever say in a single sentence : Vegas camping. Somehow the terms just don’t appear to mesh, do they ?. This is maybe why I told my partner he was crazy when he claimed that he prepared a Las Vegas camping trip last year.
When many of us consider visiting Vegas, campgrounds are not the first thing that comes to mind. With all the top Las Vegas hostels available, all the casinos and shows, many of us never think about this as a destination even if we love the great outdoors. Yet, in addition to being one of the best destinations for tourists who like to live the high life, Las Vegas is also one of the top places to experience outdoor life. Vegas camping is truly top quality.
Of course, Vegas camp grounds vary awfully greatly in quality, so you’ve got to do your research meticulously. Las Vegas camping is only actually a brilliant idea if you are there for something other than the shows, nightlife and casinos. Naturally, you should take a trip or two into town but the main reason for camping should be the outdoor attractions that you will find in the proximity of your campsite. The fact is, if you want good Las Vegas camping at an affordable price, you have got to get well outside the city boundaries. Otherwise, all you may find will be drive-in camping at far higher costs than you really should have to pay. The best Las Vegas camping is along one of the streams that flow thru the state of Nevada. For instance, you can canoe below the Hoover dam on the Colorado River. There are lots of campgrounds in Las Vegas, but unless you have a specific area in mind , or you are looking for a camping holiday that includes a trip to a show or casino then there are miles better locations for you to take your vacation.
The rationale for this is that Vegas camping tends to be a bit rough. The weather will invariably be extremely hot, and there’s a lack of the cool shady forest areas that most people like on their camping trips. This isn’t to claim that you should give up on Vegas camping. It can provide its own rewards, but it’s not for the faint of heart. You would do far better camping up in the Northwest if you’re searching for a good first outside destination.
Spending day after day in the desert can be a truly trying experience for a novice camper. Las vegas camping, in fact , requires some of the most careful preparations that you can imagine. If you are going to go into the desert to camp, you must bring masses of water, the right food, and the right clothing. Keeping cool when doing Vegas camping is sort of a matter of survival. If you don’t manage to do it, you’ll lose your strength quickly. You may be stranded miles and miles from civilization. Things can get extremely bleak very quickly in the desert, so be forewarned and be prepared. Some may suggest that you wear long sleeves and relaxed fit slacks to keep the sun off of your skin, you might want to put that recommendation aside. The first day of our Vegas camping adventure was really uncomfortable especially since I was dressed from head to toe.
Wear shorts and a t-shirt. Trust me. You may expect to do a large amount of walking during the Las Vegas camping trip and you actually wish to keep cool. Or you might end up feeling exhausted and uncomfortable.
With all the walking involved on a Las Vegas camping excursion you actually wish to invest in shoes that keep your feet chuffed. I revealed that my shoes were the elite of the crop and my feet were thanking me even on day one. Shoes are just some of the most significant things to think about when doing the planning for your Las Vegas camping trip.
Remember your suntan lotion. The sun is always shining. OK, there’s the occasional downpour that comes out of the blue but the rain leaves as quickly as it comes. I have never seen anything like it. Suntan lotion is an absolute must on your Las Vegas camping vacation.
There is a sister website on a similar topic in the adjoining county, holiday parks in Dorset. If you are considering visiting the UK then why not hire a car in the UK.
