Be Inspired & Volunteer Today!
July 26th, 2010 Posted in OutdoorsEver thought about gap year volunteering ? Perhaps volunteering in Malawi? Popular activities now include volunteering in Nairobi . How about spending part of your gap year on an African adventure? It is recommended that you combine your volunteer work in Africa helping the local communities making a difference with an adventure holiday where you are able to see the sights and sounds of the continent. This is a great opportunity to see what Africa has to offer.
It is easy to combine these two aspects of your tip and we strongly recommend it. You deserve a reward after volunteering your hard work to the local communities that need it. We are not saying that your volunteer placement is necessarily hard physical work all the time but in a lot of cases it is emotionally tiring. Africa is one of the best continents in the world to participate in a gap year. There is a wide variety of volunteer opportunities to choice from as well as a vast array of adventure activities.
Although Africa is rich in culture and has a wide range of diversity on the continent, sadly there are many areas most notably on the outskirts of major cities such as Cairo, Nairobi and Cape Town are home to people so poor they cannot afford food, health care and school. These areas are rife with diseases such as HIV and AIDS which is where these areas are home to so many orphaned children. A few weeks spent in these places, helping with volunteering teaching or as a volunteer medical assistant, really can change people’s lives.
There are however two sides to Africa the poor and then the super rich who are usually found in many cases within a 10 mile range of the slums in these major cities. Life is hard for some in Africa so why not come and get inspired by the local people and see the efforts they are making to get themselves out of poverty. You can help change the lives of many and make a difference in the world.
