Redneck Camping Guide

Camping has been a past time for many decades, providing memories that last a lifetime. Preparing for your family camping trip is critical when it comes to family fun, as with many campers you will find that the best camping trips are not by accident, planning is the key ingredient to a successful camping trip.

Summer camping is free at most Sno-Parks, while in winter a parking permit is required to use the parks. This minimal fee is used to pay for snow removal and other costs. FREE summertime camping does have its price; the services are minimal. As a rule “Pack It In – Pack It Out” is the standard for most Sno-Parks.

Most Sno-Parks are suitable for family camping. The facilities and activities vary from park to park, so plan ahead before leaving home. In fact many Sno-Parks have large warming huts with wood stoves, tables & chairs and a few have facilities for electric hook-ups for portable generators. These large fully equipped parks are great for group get-togethers and parties. You can not reserve warming huts.

Which means that you never loose your poles and never spend all day & night trying to figure out where each pole goes or even worse, loose them… imagine that! Zip up guy-line pockets makes pitching your turbo tent a breeze… these zip up pockets are attached to your turbo fly and keep all your guy-lines in order and help in setting up your rainfly with ease, a special proprietary membrane inside of our turbo tents block out the shadows and images inside the tent while camping at night.

Sno-Parks were designed and located for the winter sports enthusiast. Snowmobile riders are the predominate users and snowmobile trails are abundant. Cross-country skiing and dog sled trails can be found in some areas. Most parks offer maps of these trails which can be used for other activities in summer months. Contact the district ranger station for map information.

Remember these are not high use campgrounds; these are underused FREE summertime Sno-Park camping opportunities. In general summertime activities are minimal with hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, and ATVs being the primary activity. As all these activities are not permitted in all areas; check with the district ranger station before leaving home. Water sports are rare and usually require travel
