The reason for this is that they often have not really looked into what is available in the way of roomy family cabin tents. Here are some things to consider when picking a family cabin tent.

1. Find The Right Size Family Camping Tent

Family tents are all rated with a size according to how many people they can sleep. There are 2-person tents, 3-person tents, and upwards. Despite what the size rating is make sure that the tent is big enough for everyone and has a little extra space. A family of 5 should probably look at an 8 person tent so that there is enough room for everybody as well as your camping gear. You many want to consider a family dome tent as they usually provide more floor space than other tent designs.

2. Be Sure To Consider Tent Strength

Many families avoid family camping tents because they fell they can easily rip and you will either be soaked from rain or infested with bugs. In reality, family tents have gotten much stronger and reliable over the years. When you are about to purchase a family tents be sure to look carefully at the construction of the tent. Is there double seam stitching? Does it have reinforced grommets? Are the poles heavy duty? Is the mesh screen thick or thin construction? Be sure that all of these things are of good quality and that four or five people will be comfortable and not have any problems.

3. The Design And Shape Of The Tent

A family camping tent can come in a few different configurations. However, there are three basic shapes that are the most popular. A majority of tents are an “A” frame design. These tents have two sides raised at the ends with a flat back and front. The sides are sloped towards a peak forming an ‘A’. This design does not work well for larger families. There are Walled style tents that have poles at each end, and sometimes one in the middle. A large family will find this style of tent to be more comfortable an will provide more room for campers and storeage. Many times these wall tents will also have separate rooms.

If you are going camping as a family, the best overall shape to look into is a family dome tent. These tents are more secure, and stable that any other kind as the wind can go around the curve structure. In addition, family dome tents provide better floor space because you do not have a pole in the middle. This design makes it easier to extend your tent with a vestibule, or additional rooms. The best feature of a family dome tent is that is is very quick and easy to both setup and repack.

No matter what tent style you choose, going family tent camping will bring your family closer together and provide experiences everyone will always remember.
