Thinking About Your Camping Supply Needs

October 21st, 2009 Posted in Camping

Failing to take the right supplies with you on your camping holiday can be the difference between success and disaster. Make sure you take your time when packing for your trip to prevent any mishaps. Camping is one of my favourite ways to spend a weekend, but starving out in the middle of nowhere while getting drenched in the rain all night is not.

Fortunately, getting good camping supplies is easy these days. Buying supplies on the internet is simple. There are also more supply stores for camping appearing on the high street.

It can be a fun experience going onto a camping store. You can actually feel and see the quality of the supplies you will be buying. Sometimes an item looks great in a photo, but in real life you realize that it’s a flimsy, poorly made piece of crap. There are also some experts at the camping shops who can help you pick what you need.

When I first started camping, I bought all my camping supplies live in a store, just to get the advice of seasoned campers. People who have used camping equipment for years know what you should and shouldn’t buy online. You can use the good brands for the camping supplies but you might be able to find things much cheaper because they are not designed specifically for camping. Single duvet covers are great to take because they stop your sleeping bag getting dirty.

knowing where to get your supplies from is the easy part, knowing what to take is where it gets tricky. This is harder to answer and depends on what kind of trip you are going to take. If you are carrying your supplies whilst hiking, you will obviously take less than if you were driving to your destination. If there’s any doubt in your mind, just bring it, and with time you’ll get a feel for what you actually use and what you don’t. If you are hiking far with your equipment, take the reverse attitude. If there’s any doubt in your mind, leave it.
