Using Road Bikes Or BMX Bikes
February 7th, 2010 Posted in Travel and LeisureYou can get a bike for any surface on the market today whether you want a road bike for the tarmac, a mountain bike for the hills or a casual bike for general riders. No matter which type of cycling you do, biking is a great way to keep fit, increase your muscle strength and give your heart a workout.
Road bikes are great for zipping along smooth and flat roads or tracks. The wheels are different to mountain biking tyres because they are much thinner. The frame is also a lot thinner.
Recumbent bikes have become very popular for the middle aged and older riders. The recumbent bikes are the most comfortable because you can lean back on them in a relaxed position. And there is a softer seat for your bum. Your feet are out in front of you, quite like when you’re driving your car. You can go quickly on a recumbent bike. Riding with your legs in front of you is a lot less effort than underneath pedals but a lot more force is used. It does take time for your ‘recumbent muscles’ to develop but once you have got the hang of it you will find it difficult to use a normal bike.
Mountain biking is a sport enjoyed by people of all ages and abilities. It can be expensive to buy a hi-tech mountain bike but it can be made cheaper by renting a bike from a store or group. If you want a light-duty mountain bike then you can use it for all types of riding. You can find mountain biking trails for beginners and experts. The trails are rated like ski slopes, green is easiest and pink is the trickiest. To reduce the risk of injury you should learn how to handle the bike and go slowly so that the damage done to your joints is minimal.
Whatever style of biking you prefer, make sure you get pedalling! You can burn calories and give your heart a workout all in one go. The best part is that anyone can ride a bike and it’s a great family recreation to be enjoyed together.
